PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a graft copolymer with a high molecular polymerization initiator, by which the polymerization speed is largely improved, while maintaining high graft efficiency. SOLUTION: This method for producing a graft copolymer, comprising reacting the high molecular polymerization initiator having alkoxyamine groups pendant from the molecular chain with a radically polymerizable unsaturated monomer, is characterized by using a Brϕnsted acid or an acylating agent as a polymerizaion-active catalyst.
