PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a print system for printing on a recording medium, e.g. a CD-R (Compact Disk Recordable), in which the recording medium is prevented from being moved to a position where it can be mounted or removed with a print head touching the surface of the recording medium, i.e., a disc. SOLUTION: When a print position detection signal indicating the fact that a thermal head 21 is located at a print position cannot be obtained by a print position detection switch SW2 at the time of ink jet operation and a decision is made that the print system is not operating, a stepping motor M is driven reversely and the thermal head 21 is moved toward a nonprint position and returned back to a print waiting position and then a solenoid 12 is driven to eject a tray 5. Consequently, the tray 5 is ejected after the thermal head 21 is moved surely to a position not touching an optical disc 4 even during nonprint operation. |
