PURPOSE: A bar code scanner is provided to read both the printed bar code and the bar code displayed on an LCD by using a plurality of light sources with different wave lengths. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises an input module(10), a DC(Direct Current) power source(20), a microprocessor(30), a light source selector(40), a lighting module(50), a light receiver(60), a signal processor(70), a lamp driver(80), and a speaker(90). The input module(10) outputs user instruction signals according to an operation of a switch. The DC power source(20) supplies a DC power for each component within the device. The microprocessor(30) controls an overall operation for reading a bar code. The light source selector(40) outputs a light source selection signal according to a control signal of the microprocessor(30). The lighting module(50) drives the light source selected among plural light sources according to the light source selection signal. The light receiver(60) receives the light reflected from the bar code. The signal processor(70) converts the received analogue light into digital signals. The lamp driver(80) switches off the lamp and the speaker(90) outputs a confirmation sound, if the device finishes reading the bar code.
