PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the collagen of sea cucumbers or starfishes which are invertebrates and belong to echinoderms instead of the collagen of mammals. SOLUTION: The insoluble collagen sponge can be obtained by removing soluble components contained in sea cucumbers or starfishes, and a method for manufacturing the sponge of the collagen of sea cucumbers or starfishes comprises mechanically pulverizing sea cucumbers or starfishes, then treating the pulverized sea cucumbers or starfishes with a neutral solution containing a reducing agent and a salt, subsequently removing solubilized components by this treatment, and then purifying, freezing, and drying the obtained insoluble components.
