PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste disposal method and system in which the residue of waste can be reduced as low as possible and an exhaust gas disposal can be easily realized and the waste including incombustible materials and flame resistant materials such as metal and ceramics can be reduced and safely and economically burnt by using a plasma as a heat source for thermal decomposition at high temperature. SOLUTION: In the waste disposal method, the waste is thermally decomposed under a partial reducing atmosphere to separate generated residue from a gaseous material including fine particles. A heating space in a furnace comprises a first partial space and a second partial space. In the first partial space, temperature is raised to first predetermined level so that sufficient heat is generated therein to form molten slag from the waste thermally decomposed by the plasma heat source. Further, in the second partial space, the temperature is raised to a second predetermined level lower than the first predetermined level and sufficiently high to generate the thermal decomposition of the waste by the plasma heat source. |
