摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a benzene ring-fused 5-membered heterocyclic compound having medicinal action such as neurotrophic factor action, neurotrophic factor activity-enhancing action andβ-amyloid cytotoxicity-suppressing action. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by general formula (I) [wherein R<1> and R<2> are each independently hydrogen; a hydrocarbon group; or a heterocyclic group; or R<1> and R<2> may form a 3- to 8-membered homo- or hetero-cycle together with the adjacent carbon atom; R<3> is a cyclic group; hydroxyl or optionally oxo-modified mercapto or amino group; R<4> is hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, hydroxyl or optionally oxo-modified mercapto or amino; or R<2> and R<4> may be united to form a double bond; X is a direct bond or a linear hydrocarbon group; W is oxygen or sulfur; the ring B is a 5 to 8-membered nitrogenous heterocycle; the ring C is a benzene ring; the double line composed of the dotted line and the solid line represents a single or double bond] or a salt or a prodrug thereof. The compound or the salt or the prodrug thereof has excellent neurodegeneration inhibiting activity and migration property toward the brain and has low toxicity and is useful as a preventive and therapeutic agent for neurodegenerative diseases.</p>
