PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorptiometer excellent in flexibility capable of precisely measuring the concentration of a chemical component contained in a sample regardless of the kind of the chemical component of measuring subject. SOLUTION: When a xenon flash lamp 21 is combined with a filter 22, a specified wavelength, or an illuminating light of 380 nm when the measuring subject is trivalent iron ion is provided. The filter for passing a specified wavelength corresponding to the chemical component of measuring subject is prepared, whereby the illuminating light suitable for measurement can be obtained, and an absorptiometer excellent flexibility can be obtained. By using the xenon flash lamp 21, the luminous quantity of the illuminating light L1 is sufficiently high, compared with a conventional device using a light emitting diode, and the measuring precision can be improved.
