PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the efficiency of the pleat formation treatment by exposing a large number of fabrics to the hot steam at the same time. SOLUTION: The shapes of the pleats formed on individual paper patterns 11-16 have each a wider ridge on one side than the ridge on the other side. Individual fillers 17, 18, 19 and 20 are attached to the paper patterns 11, 13, 14, 16. The paper patterns 11, 12, 13 are piled up in the same face and the paper patterns 14, 15, 16 are heaped up in the same face. At this time, the cloths 5 are intervened between the paper patterns 11 and 12, between 12 and 13, between 14 and 15 and between 15 and 16. Further, two sets of paper patterns are arranged so that the other faces of the pleats may oppose to each other and they are overlapped so that the top points of both ridges may not come into contact with each other. Then, the piled paper patterns 11-16 and the cloths 5 are compressed so that these pleats may be put together and the paper patterns 11-16 takes a prescribed shapes by the action of the fillers 17-20, when the distance between both ends reaches a certain distance. Finally, they are treated with hot steam.
