PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which can improve the timing accuracy for rotating a feed roller by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: An ink carrier 2 has a rod-shaped member 5 coupled by a spring member 14, and is further provided with a roller 6 having a spiral groove part 7 to be engaged with the rod-shaped member 5 of the ink carrier 2, an engagement guide means for engaging the rod-shaped member 5 and the groove part 7 only when the ink carrier 2 moves in one direction, and a plurality of gears 8, 10, 15, 16 and 17 set between the roller 6 and the feed roller 9. The roller 6 is rotated by moving the ink carrier 2 by a motor 4 in a state wherein the rod-shaped member 5 and the groove part 7 are engaged with each other. The feed roller 9 is rotated on the basis of the rotation of the roller 6. The rod-shaped member 5 and the groove part 7 are formed so as not to be engaged with each other while the ink carrier 2 moves printing.
