PURPOSE: To provide a memory device and an image processing device capable of increasing the speed of the algorism of the region growth, which has heretofore taken a long time to be processed, and making real-time motions. CONSTITUTION: The memory device has a memory alley part 51 on which memory units MU11-MU88 are disposed in a matrix. Each memory unit has two memory cells M adjacent to each other in the same column, one flag cell FCL, and two transfer gates TG for transmitting flag data of the flag cell FCL to flag cells of memory units MUs adjacent in the direction of row and in the direction of column according to the memory data of each memory cell M. The memory device also has a region growth circuit 5 for writing the correlation data as the result of the correlation operation of adjacent pixels in the whole memory cells, starting the process of the region growth from a specified position (address) to extract an object, and outputting the extracted object to an image synthesizer 7.
