PURPOSE: A method for controlling an outdoor fan of an air conditioner is provided to improve efficiency of heating operation. CONSTITUTION: A method includes the steps of: a first step(200) detecting RPM of an outdoor fan motor on initial stage of heating operation and storing as reference; a second step(203,206) measuring current RPM of the outdoor fan motor after executing heating operation for fixed time; a third step(209,212,218) comparing the current RPM with the reference to determining frosting of an outdoor unit; and a fourth step(215,221,224,227,230,233) controlling RPM of the outdoor fan motor to increase when the outdoor unit is determined to be frosted.
