PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine designed to arrange a main exhaust passage in the proximity of a by-pass exhaust passage, to effectively heat an HC absorbent in the inside of it, to arrange an exhaust muffling member in the main exhaust passage and to simplify constitution of a silencer on a rear stage, etc. SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device of the internal combustion engine makes it possible to effectively heat the HC absorbent 64 by making the main exhaust passage 56a formed in a second cylindrical case 56 connected to an exhaust pipe 38 position adjacent to the by-pass exhaust passage 54a in such a manner that the main exhaust passage 56a surround it. An inner wall 56c formed of a plate made of punching metal is formed on the outer periphery of the main exhaust passage, to arrange the exhaust muffling member 70 made of an insulator 70a and a textile material 70b inside the inner wall 56c to reduce exhaust noise, and, a silencer on the front stage is removed. The capacity or the size of the silencer (muffler) on a rear stage is made smaller. |
