PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly stop without a shock by making a cushion effective even at stopping time in an intermediate position, and to also perform simultaneously even rotary operation. SOLUTION: This cylinder device is provided with a first tube 11, a piston 13, a rod 14 having a large diameter part and a small diameter part, an intermediate cover 17, a rear end cover 16, a second tube 12, a tip cover 18, and a free piston 15 arranged slidably between the tip cover and the intermediate cover in the second tube, and tightly penetrating the small diameter part of the rod through a through hole arranged in the center. A cushion boss 33 having a diameter larger than the small diameter part is arranged in a boundary part between the small diameter part and the large diameter part of the rod. A cushion hole 43 is arranged in the free piston 15 for performing the cushion action by fitting the cushion boss 33.
