PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method suitable for industrial execution for producing 1,3-dialkyl-2-imidazolidinones in high yield by using industrially available alkylene oxide as a raw material. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 1,3-dialkyl-2-imidazolidinones comprises using the alkylene oxide as the first component, and one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of (A) carbon dioxide and monoalkylamine, (B) a carbon dioxide compound of the monoalkylamine and (C) a 1,3-dialkylurea as the second component, and reacting the first component with the second component by heating them to >=50 deg.C. The total of the number of moles of the fed monoalkylamine included in the component (A), the number of moles of the fed monoalkylamine component in the component (B), and twice of the number of moles of the fed component (C) is regulated so as to be triple or more of the number of moles of the fed alkylene oxide.
