PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for a mechanical type parking device, the cost of equipment of which is reduced and in which a post-attachment is also facilitated while an opening section can be interrupted and opened rapidly and a storage space is hardly required. SOLUTION: The safety device for the mechanical type parking device has a pair of guide rails (8) installed on both left-right sides of the opening section (2), a pair of base sections (12) capable of being smoothly moved in the vertical direction, a rise and fall member (14) stretched over the base sections and a rise and fall mechanism moving the base sections. The base sections are lowered, maintaining a horizontal state up to a fixed height (h) immediately before the parking device is started and the opening section is interrupted by the rise and fall member, and the rise and fall member is lifted, keeping the state in which the member is opposed up to a section in the vicinity of the upper end of the opening section when the parking device is stopped and the opening section is opened.
