PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a penetration testing machine capable of recording a sound propagating a penetration rod and increasing the degree of accuracy of the estimation of a soil by the sound. SOLUTION: A sound detection means 11 capable of detecting the sound propagating the penetration rod 7 with the penetration of the penetration rod 7 in the ground is provided the penetration 7. The sound detected by the sound detection means 11 is transmitted to a receiving means 17 by radio through a transmitting means 12. The sound is transmitted to a sound treatment section 22 from the receiving means 17, and it is recorded in a recording section 23. Then, information of the penetration depth (depth information) of the penetration rod 7 at the time when the sound occurs is recorded in relation with sound information as well as the sound information in the recording section 23. Accordingly, after the completion of the test, the sound recorded in the recording section 23 can be confirmed by verifying the sound recorded in the recording section 23 with the depth information.
