PURPOSE: A novel 3'-carboxyl-5,2':5',2''-terthiophene compound, its preparation method, a functional conductive terthiophene copolymer obtained from the monomer of the terthiophene compound, a DNA hybridization detection method using the polymer and a preparation method of a probe DNA are provided, to enable the hybridization of DNA to be detected by measuring the impedance without using an indicator. CONSTITUTION: The 3'-carboxyl-5,2':5',2''-terthiophene compound is represented by the formula 1, and is prepared by treating 3-bromoterthiophene with cyano copper and hydrolyzing the obtained one in KOH-ethoxyethanol. The terthiophene copolymer is represented by the formula 3, and is prepared from the terthiophene compound of the formula 1 by the electrochemical method using cyclic voltammetry. The DNA hybridization detection method comprises the steps of dissolving the terthiophene compound into a non-aqueous solvent; synthesizing the conductive terthiophene polymer having a carboxylic group on the surface of an electrode by cyclic voltammetry; fixing the probe DNA whose 5'-terminal is modified into an amino group by using 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide, to the polymer; and measuring the impedance before and after the hybridization of DNA.
