PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve traveling performance in inertial traveling on a downward slope regardless of an operation state of a lockup clutch. SOLUTION: A continuously variable transmission continuously changes rotation of an input-side rotation body driven by an engine through a torque converter with the lockup clutch through a power transmission element and transmits the rotation to an output-side rotation body. When a vehicle has not less than a prescribed acceleration/deceleration in a state wherein an inertial traveling detection means detects the inertial traveling of the vehicle on the downward slope, a lower limit value of a target rotation speed for the inertial traveling of the input-side rotation body is set, and the lower limit value is corrected according to the operation state of the lockup clutch. A lower limit value change ratio is corrected according to the operation state of the lockup clutch, and the inertial traveling target rotation speed or the lower limit value change ratio is varied in respective engagement time, disengagement time and incomplete clutching time of the lockup clutch. |
