PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a conventional method for determining an excess amount of an enantiomer of alcohols and amines utilizing diastereomers is provided without taking the effects of the kinetic optical resolution in forming the diastereomers into consideration at all. SOLUTION: Alcohols and amines in which amounts of the excess enantiomer are unknown, are reacted with a chiral derivatizing reagent, respectively and an enantiomer of a heavy hydrogen substitution product represented by general formula (wherein, R<1> is a heavy hydrogen-substituted alkyl group; R<2> is an alkyl group; and Ar is an aromatic ring). The ratio of the (light hydrogen substance/heavy hydrogen substitution product) is determined from one of the resultant diastereomers and the ratio of (heavy hydrogen substitution product/ light hydrogen substance) is determined from the other diastereomer. Thereby, the respective ratios are multiplied and an accurate amount of the excess enantiomer excluding the effects of the kinetic optical resolution can be determined. |
