PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method free of occurrence of black stops and capable of stably giving a high contrast image even when processing is carried out in the field of the graphic arts using a developing solution less liable to affect the environment under a small amount of replenishment. SOLUTION: In the processing method in which a silver halide photographic sensitive material having at least one photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer on a support and containing a dimer compound to which at least one monomer including both acylhydrazide and nicotinamide moieties has been linked by a linking group in the silver halide emulsion layer and/or at least one of other hydrophilic colloidal layers is exposed and developing with a developing solution, it is characterized in that the developing solution does not substantially contain a dihydroxybenzene compound, contains at least one ascorbic acid derivative as a developing agent and has a pH within the range of 9.0-10.5.
