PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic cellulose derivative fiber which has good heat resistance, melting characteristics and mechanical characteristics necessary as a fiber for clothes or industry. SOLUTION: This thermoplastic cellulose derivative fiber comprises a cellulose derivative composition which consists mainly of a cellulose ester or cellulose ether having aliphatic polyester side chains having a specific structure as each recurring unit and has a heating loss rate of 0 to 5 wt.% at 200 deg.C, a melt viscosity of 50 to 300 Pa.sec at 200 deg.C, 1,000 sec<-1> , and a melt tension of 0.1 to 50 mN, when wound up at 200 deg.C at a rate of 100 m/min.
