PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ethylene-vinyl acetate resin emulsion type adhesive having a few environmental problems, little coloring, and excellent initial adhesive strength. SOLUTION: The adhesive comprises containing a vinyl alcohol polymer having a degree of saponification of >=70 mole% as a dispersant, and an ethylene-vinyl acetate resin emulsion as a principal component, the emulsion containing an unreacted vinyl acetate monomer content of <=0.2 wt.%, and formaldehyde concentration of <=1 ppm.
