PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive effective for improving the traveling properties, particularly the acceleration of an automobile which travels with the use of a fuel oil. SOLUTION: The fuel oil additive comprises an adduct of 3-50 mol alkylene oxide to 1 mol hydrocarbylamide. When this additive is added to a fuel oil such as gasoline, the traveling properties, particularly the acceleration of an automobile which travels with the use of this fuel oil is improved.
