PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber reinforcement which has an excellent handleability, can be easily impregnated with a resin, and can give a composite material with excellent mechanical properties in a high productivity; to obtain a preform prepared by laminating the same and a composite material prepared by impregnating the preform with a resin. SOLUTION: The carbon fiber reinforcement 21 at least comprises a first resin 24 and a fabric prepared by using continuous carbon fibers 22. The carbon fibers have a tensile modulus of 210 GPa or higher and a fracture strain energy of 40 MJ/m<3> or higher. The first resin in the range of 1-20 pts.wt. is adhered to the fabric of 100 pts.wt.
