PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a process for the synthesis of a conductive polymer by a vapor-phase polymerization as is capable of shortening the manufacturing steps less than those of the conventional processes and reducing the manufacturing cost and, on the other hand, of giving the polymer an excellent thin film characteristics and freely controlling the electroconductivity thereof. SOLUTION: The process for the synthesis of the conductive polymer comprises a step of coating an oxidant on a substrate surface in a thickness of severalμm and drying in an oven, a step of carrying out a polymerization reaction on the substrate surface by contacting the oxidant coated substrate with a vapor phase monomer, and a step, after completion of the polymerization, of washing to remove an unreacted monomer and the oxidant.
