PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method for a line thermal printer, capable of providing a moderate drive speed change of a paper feeding motor derived from change of the number of divisions so as to prevent application of excessive torque to on the paper feeding motor by drastic speed change, and a line thermal printer used therefor. SOLUTION: In the case a demand for division drive with a number of divisions smaller than the optional number of divisions is provided while executing division drive with an optional number of divisions, the driving speed of a paper feeding motor 18 is made higher than the driving speed at the time of the division drive by the optional number of divisions after receiving the demand only in the case the division drive demand with the number of divisions smaller than the optional number of divisions is provided continuously for predetermined lines or more.
