Motor-driven hand tool with safety device in case of jammed tool

The tool has a rotary spindle protruding from a housing or transferring rotation from a drive motor to a tool bit. The safety device is activated by a tool jam detector to prevent deflection of the housing about the spindle axis if the tool suddenly jams. An overload clutch is mounted in the drive train (9) for the rotary spindle (6). The safety device (11) is arranged in series with the overload clutch (10) between it and the spindle. When the safety device is activated it rotationally couples the housing (2) and the drive train (9) on the spindle side together.
