The watch (31) includes a clock movement (32) associated with a display which may either be a liquid crystal device (34) or an analogue display beneath the cover glass ()8). The watch also includes an active display element (36) situated inside the casing (4) of the watch. Also within the casing is a mirror (40) mounted internally on the base of the casing. A magnifying lens (38) is mounted in the top of the watch, beneath the cover glass. The mirror (40) reflects light from the active source (36) out via the magnifying lens (38) to the observer. <IMAGE>
