PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a therapeutic agent having excellent active inhibitory action of an aldose reductase and derived from a natural medicine as a therapeutic agent for diabetic peripheral neuropathy induced by sorbitol accumulated in the body by the aldose reductase. SOLUTION: This therapeutic agent for diabetic peripheral neuropathy comprises powder of Saussurea laniceps derived from a plant belonging to the genus Saussurea of the family of Compositae, an extract thereof and a mixture thereof as active ingredients and has an active inhibitory action of the aldose reductase.
