PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a coated optical fiber which is capable of performing uniform coating even under high-velocity drawing and is capable of performing uniform coating under stable conditions even if drawing and two-layer coating are performed by a long-time continuous operation. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the optical fiber of the multilayer coating is a method of subjecting a bare optical fiber (12) to two layers of UV curing resin coating at a drawing speed of >=1,000 m/min and comprises disposing a trap gate (8) just before a second layer coating layer device in applying and curing (6 and 7) of the second layer after coating application of the first layer and curing (3, 4) of the same by irradiation with UV rays.
