PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the memory capacity of a frame memory to delay input data of a liquid crystal display device which employs an overshooting driving. SOLUTION: The disclosed liquid crystal display device is a liquid crystal display device for displaying images by using a liquid crystal panel 5 and is provided with a data converting table 1 for generating output gray-scale data decreased in the number of bits by thinning input gray-scale data, the frame memory 3 for forming the second input gray-scale data by delaying the output gray-scale data of the data converting table 1 by an image display period of one frame in the liquid crystal panel and a look-up table 4 for generating a previously stored overshoot gray-scale output according to the relation whether the input gray-scale data and the second input gray-scale data are large or small. The device is constituted to display the images on the liquid crystal panel 5 by such overshooting gray-scale output.
