PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein the reduction of luminance and luminance ununiformity caused by providing a radiator for radiating heat produced by a fluorescent lamp to the outside of a backlight unit are suppressed and higher luminance can be attained. SOLUTION: A radiator 4 is connected onto a reflection plate 3 provided inside a backlight case 2 and the fluorescent lamp 5 is provided thereon so that the lamp comes in contact with the radiator 4. The upper surface 4a of the radiator 4 is formed so as not to protrude from the fluorescent lamp 5 when the upper surface 4a is viewed from the side of a diffusion plate 7 provided above the fluorescent lamp 5.
