PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle roof of constitution of a relatively low cost, wherein a space for a support element is not very large, in which a cover capable of displacement is guided by guide rails, the guide rails are not extended in parallel to each other, and their form is matched to form of the roof or a part of the roof. SOLUTION: This vehicle roof is provided with a proof opening part 12 provided on a fixed roof surface 10, and a cover element 14 to close the roof opening part 12, and at least partly open it. A slide element 22 is pivotally attached to the cover element 14, and the slide element 22 is guided to be capable of displacement by the guide rails 16 disposed on side parts along the roof opening part 12. The guide rails 16 are disposed in such a way that interval between the guide rails 16 is changeable in a vehicle length direction along the range of the guide rails 16. Each slide element 22 has a journal 24 on an end part on the side of the cover element 14 to be extended roughly in a vehicle width direction. The journal 24 is engaged with a shaft bearing bush 30 provided on the cover element 14 to be capable of displacement.
