PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a positional deviation of a carriage by effectively dampening vibrations transmitted from a driving source for the carriage to the carriage. SOLUTION: A belt holder 59 fixed to a timing belt 83 for transmitting a driving force of a carriage motor is coupled via a damper 61 to a rear cover 60 of the carriage to which a head cartridge is loaded. The damper 61 dampens vibrations of the belt holder 59 and is constituted so that a dampening effect in a move direction of the carriage is larger than a dampening effect in a direction not parallel to the move direction of the carriage.
