PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low thermal expansion alloy thin sheet which has excellent low thermal expansion properties and satisfactory etching properties, and has excellent stability in production. SOLUTION: The low thermal expansion alloy thin sheet having excellent productivity and etching properties has a composition containing, by mass, 35.0 to 37.0% Ni, 0.01 to 0.09% Mn, 0.01 to 0.04% Si and 0.01 to 0.04% Al, and the balance substantially Fe, and in which 20 to 300 Mn/S and <=0.15% Mn+Si+Al are satisfied, and the mean thermal expansion coefficient at 20 to 100 deg.C is <=1.0×10<-6> /K.
