PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary heater having efficiency higher than a publicly known auxiliary heater in the auxiliary heater having the same size. SOLUTION: This auxiliary heater is suitable for a moving use, and has a burner and a cup-shaped heat exchanger 10. This heat exchanger has hollow cylindrical wall parts 26 and 48 having a first end range 16 near the burner, bottom parts 24 and 46 separate from the burner, a connecting short pipe 18, and a connecting short pipe 20 arranged in the first end range 16. When operating the auxiliary heater, a fluid heating medium flows by passing through the bottom parts 24 and 46 and the hollow cylindrical wall parts 26 and 48 via a heating medium inlet and a heating medium outlet. The connecting short pipe 18 is similarly arranged in the first end range 16 of the heat exchanger 10.
