WATER-ABSORBING COMPOSITE SPUN YARN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-absorbing composite spun yarn whose mechanical strength is improved against shearing stress due to its abrasion and/or torsion, whose brittleness is ameliorated by bringing dust scattering due to its single fiber breakages or fluff breakages in postprocessing to a minimum, and having the greatly high water-absorbing function inherent in the raw material thereof so as to remain intact to the utmost. SOLUTION: This water-absorbing composite spun yarn comprises a sheath/ core-type staple fiber bundle and a filament which winds the outer periphery thereof at 100-350 T/m; wherein the sheath/core-type staple fiber bundle is such that the core part consists of a water-absorbing staple fiber bundle and the sheath part consists of a staple fiber bundle of fibers other than water- absorbing fibers and the weight ratio of the core part to the sheath part is (95:5) to (20:80).
