摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an apparatus for measuring flow velocity itself becomes huge since a facility for injecting tracers into a river, etc., and an illumination facility are required. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises an image pickup means for picking up images of fluid at predetermined time intervals and transmitting the images as image data, and an image processing device for obtaining the velocity of the fluid in accordance with an original image and a first to N-th (N is an integer of 1 or more) images wherein image data is regarded as the original data upon receipt thereof and temporal-past image data is sequentially regarded as the first to N-th images. The image processing device comprises a first means and a second means. The first means defines at least one predetermined measurement area on the original image, judges if the first image has an area matching with the measurement area on the original image, and computes the movement of the measurement area on the original image to obtain a first moving destination area. The second means obtains the velocity in the measurement area on the original image based on the first moving destination area.
