PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a humidifier arranged to sustain a comfortable indoor environment constantly in which humidification state of a room can be confirmed even in a dark place or from a remote position. SOLUTION: The humidifier comprises means 6 for humidifying a room by discharging steam or fog, means 20 for detecting indoor humidity, means 16 for setting a target indoor humidity, a liquid crystal display section 12 for displaying the indoor humidity and a target humidity, and a control means 23 wherein the liquid crystal display section 12 has a backlight 12B function of a plurality of colors, and is altered automatically to the color of a preset backlight 12B depending on the indoor humidity detected by the means 20 for detecting indoor humidity.
