PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for changing the texture of a knit fabric by transferring a texture data to a knitting part while circulating around the knitting part of a circular knitting machine. SOLUTION: The texture-setting apparatus is provided with (a) an engaging and moving means 21 engaged with the rail of the side of the circular knitting machine and movable around the knitting part of the circular knitting machine, (b) a position detection sensor 28 to detect the position of the element of the knitting part, (c) a finger unit 34 having a selector finger 33 controlled of its position by a piezoelectric element, (d) a knit fabric texture memory 31 to store the electronic data of the knit fabric texture and (e) a central controller 30 to calculate the present position based on the signal transmitted from the position detection sensor 28, extract the knit fabric texture data suiting the position from the knit fabric texture memory 31 and transmit the data to the finger unit 34.
