PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for polymerizing a vinylic monomer by which a low-molecular weight vinylic polymer is obtained with high productivity. SOLUTION: This method for producing the vinylic polymer includes a first step of continuously feeding a raw material mixture containing the vinylic monomer to a first reactor, polymerizing the vinylic monomer under conditions of 160-300 deg.C polymerization temperature and 2-60 min residence time so as to afford 50-99% conversion and producing a reactional intermediate mixture and a second step of feeding a polymerization initiator in an amount of 0.01-5 pts. mass based on 100 pts. mass of the vinylic monomer and the reactional intermediate mixture to a second reactor, further polymerizing the vinylic monomer under conditions of 100-200 deg.C polymerization temperature and 10-240 min residence time so as to afford >=80% conversion and producing the vinylic polymer. The weight-average molecular weight of the vinylic polymer is 1,500-10,000.
