PURPOSE: A system and a method for offering real time payment service using the fingerprint authentication are provided to enable a customer to make payment for a commodity or a service by inputting a fingerprint, not the credit card, at a payment processing terminal installed at an affiliated store. CONSTITUTION: A customer selects the kind of a credit card on a payment processing terminal at an affiliated store(110), inputs a payment amount and a group ID at the payment processing terminal(120, 130), scans a fingerprint(140), and converts the scanned fingerprint data by using specific check data(150). Then the terminal transmits the converted scanned fingerprint data to a system of a corresponding credit card company. The credit card company system analyses the transmitted fingerprint data and determines whether the transmitted fingerprint data is copied(210), and rejects a payment approval if the transmitted fingerprint data is copied(260). If the transmitted fingerprint data is not copied, the credit card company system recovers the converted fingerprint data(220), extracts unique IDs from a user data storage by using the input group ID(230), and compares the recovered fingerprint data with the fingerprint data corresponding to each user having the same group ID. When the identical fingerprint data is not found, the credit card company system rejects a payment approval(260). But when it is found, the system extracts the kind and the number of the credit card corresponding to the fingerprint data(250). The system processes the payment request by using the extracted credit card number(310), and transmits the process result to the payment processing terminal(320).
