PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix type light emitting apparatus having such a structure of a light emitting element that a poor film deposition of an organic compound layer to be formed on an electrode and the deterioration of the organic compound layer are prevented. SOLUTION: An electrically insulating film 103 is deposited to cover the edge part of an electric conductor 105 being the first electrode of the light emitting element and then polished by a chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) method so that the surfaces of the conductor 105 and a flattened insulating layer 106 form the same plane. As a result, the film of the organic compound layer to be deposited on the conductor 105 can be prevented from being deposited poorly and an electric field formed from the edge part of the conductor 105 can be prevented from being concentrated.
