PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of reducing superfuous image omission and image deterioration by performing appropriate cleaning operation by a cleaning mechanism in addition to a control method for making the cleaning mechanism act when a main power source is turned on or after completing copying by the specified number of copies based on a maintenance cycle, which is ordinarily performed in the image forming device using retrying control. SOLUTION: This image forming device is characterized in that the cleaning mechanism of an image forming system unit is made to act at the time of finishing a job judged as the one causing an abnormal discharge when a situation does not result in the stop of the image forming device due to an abnormal trouble because the number of retrying times by the retrying control is equal to or under a specified value.
