PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting element which prevents a noise from being generated with reference to a measuring output when the current of a heating resistor is leaked to the side of a measuring electrode, and whose reliability is increased by providing an insulating structure having a satisfactory electrical insulating property across through hole conductors used to connect a lead terminal to a terminal electrode. SOLUTION: The detecting element is formed in such a way that it is provided with a ceramic heating layer 6 in which at least a pair of detecting electrodes 3, 10 are formed on both main faces of a zirconia solid electrolyte substrate 2 so as to form a detection part, and in which the heating resistor 7 used to heat the detection part is embedded and installed; and that it is provided with terminal electrodes 4a, 4b, 24 which are electrically connected to the detecting electrodes 3, 10 and the heating resistor 7 on a ceramic protective layer 9 composed of a zirconia solid electrolyte covering the layer 6. A leakage current value flowing across the terminal electrodes 4a, 4b for the detecting electrode and the terminal electrode 24 for the heating resistor is set at 200 μA or less. |
