1,248,624. Determination of aldoses. MERCK PATENT G.m.b.H. 9 April, 1969 [2 May, 1968], No. 18227/69. Heading B1X. An agent for determination of aldoses, especially glucose, galactose or xylose, in body fluids, comprises an o-substituted o<SP>1</SP> unsubstituted mononuclear aromatic amine and at least one compound selected from hydroxyl group-containing mono-, di- and tri-carboxylic acids, and optionally one or more of water, thiourea, glacial acetic acid and solubilising agents. Amines exemplified are o-toluidine, 2- ethyl-aniline, 2n or 2-iso propylaniline, 2-n or 2-iso or 2-tert butyl aniline, 2, 3-dimethyl or diethyl aniline, 2,4-dimethy] or -diethyl aniline, 2,5-dimethyl- or diethyl aniline. Acids exemplified are lactic, malic, glycollic; also mentioned are gluconic, mannonic, tartaric acids. Optional solubilising agents are alcohols or polyols, b.pt at least 90‹C, monoalkyl glycol ethers, or mixtures of these; examples are given. Blood samples to be tested may be deproteinized before test using trichloroacetic acid, perchloric acid or uranyl acetate. In determining galactose or xylose, any glucose present is first oxidised with glucose oxidase. In carrying out the determination, the sample is treated with a solution of the agent and the extinction of the resulting solution is measured. |
