A pump unit, in particular a submersible pump unit, which pump unit comprises a pump (8) including a housing (13) and a driving unit accommodated therein for driving an impeller, a liquid level switch (1) comprising at least one pressure switch (2) responding to fluid pressure for controlling the driving unit, and an elastically deformable body (4) which is connected to the pressure switch (2) in a fluid-tight manner. The body (4) is arranged such that it is capable of elastic deformation under the influence of the level of a liquid (11) which is present in a pit or a reservoir (9) in which the pump (8) is to be disposed. Volume changes of the body (4) will result in fluid pressure changes for controlling the at least one pressure switch (2). The elastically deformable body (4) is freely suspended outside the pump housing (13), in such a manner that when the pump unit is used in a pit or a reservoir (9), the elastically deformable body (4) will be in contact with and as much as possible surrounded by a liquid (11) present in the pit or the reservoir (9). <IMAGE> |
