PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hydrophobic substance adsorbent which is fast in equilibration to an eluate, is less affected by swelling, shrinking, or the like, and therefore makes rapid and high-accuracy separation possible, is excellent not only in adsorbability but in desorbability as well even in extracting various kinds of hydrophobic substances, can be extracted at a high recovery rate and is repetitively usable, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The hydrophobic substance adsorbent has a functional group- containing polymer layer on the surface of a core consisting of a hydrophobic crosslinked polymer and the above functional group-containing polymer is bonded with cyclodextrins through its functional groups.
