PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner capable of cleaning a floor face more positively. SOLUTION: When a wall is detected in a neighborhood of a body case 2 by an obstacle sensor, traveling wheels 3 are rotatively driven via a motor by a control circuit 24. The body case 2 moves and a suction opening body 10 approaches the wall. Since the suction opening body 10 approaches a floor face in a neighborhood of the wall and it cleans the floor face in the neighborhood of the wall, the floor face can be cleaned more positively. It can also be composed so that the body case 2 moves when the wall is detected by a distance sensor. The suction opening body 10 is rotated counterclockwise as seen from above via the motor by the control circuit 24. When a state of the suction opening body 10 directed toward the wall is maintained, the body case 2 is relatively rotated clockwise as seen from above. The body case 2 moves and cleans along a side face of the wall in a state of a distance between the suction opening body 10 and the wall maintained at a certain distance. Since the floor face in the neighborhood of the wall where dust easily accumulates is cleaned by the suction opening body 10, the floor face can be cleaned more positively.
