PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate handling of a pressure cooker by moderating sound of steam discharged from the pressure cooker and easing fear of a user against the discharge sound of the steam. SOLUTION: The pressure control unit for the pressure cooker is provided with a nozzle 4 attached to a lid part 3 of the pressure cooker, a needle valve 10 opening and closing a valve seat part 5 of the nozzle 4, and weight 20 having weight for constantly blocking the valve seat part 5 by the needle valve 10 and capable of rotating around a vertical axis. A steam discharging passage 31 communicating with the nozzle 4 and a steam outlet 51 communicating with the steam discharging passage 31 and opened to a side are formed on the weight 20. A reed whistle body 60 with reed valve bodies 64 and 63 attached so as to vibrate to slit holes 62 and 63 provided on a tabular base part 61 interposed so as to cut off the steam discharging passage 31 is provided in the steam discharging passage 31. By this, the steam discharged from the nozzle 4 can vibrate the reed valve bodies 64 and 65 and issue a reed sound when it passes the slit holes 62 and 63.
